European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rules indefinite data retention violates privacy

The ECHR ruled in the case of Gaughran v. the United Kingdom, that the indefinite retention of biometric information -DNA, fingerprints, and photograph without proper safeguards is in violation of Art. 8 of the European Convention of Human rights, protecting individuals privacy and family life.
