New Zealand to boost efforts against violent extremism online

The government of New Zealand announced it will invest $17 million in fighting violent extremism online. The funds will go to the Censorship Compliance Unit over four years, and are aimed towards increasing operational capacity by employing 17 new investigators, designing new laws to respond to terrorist content, and reviewing the regulatory framework around social media companies.
