Canada outlines plans for national quantum strategy

In its proposed Budget 2021: A recovery plan for jobs, growth, and resilience, the government of Canada has outlined plans to allocate CAD$360 million over seven years (starting the 2021¨C2022 fiscal year) in support of a national quantum strategy. The strategy -to be coordinated by a new secretariat within the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development -is aimed to 'amplify Canada's significant strength in quantum research; grow [the country's] quantum-ready technologies, companies, and talent; and solidify Canada's global leadership in this area'.
